Skaftafell West Circle Route

A day tour in the awesome Skaftafell, between waterfalls, glaciers and volcanoes.

Skaftafell West Circle Route

The Skaftafell is a National Park close to the mighty Vatnajökull glacier. It has a range of hiking trails that will show you a variety of nature. Several glaciers are close, such as the Skaftajökull and Svínafellsjökull. Inside the National Park, you can find the Svartifoss waterfall which drops among impressive basalt columns, remains of volcanic activity. The West Circle Hike is signposted throughout with the blue "M3" sign. You will encounter forest, pure glacial water streams, stunning views over the flood plains to the ocean and impressive sight of several glaciers. The nearby camp site is very well maintained and a good starting point for tours!
